The Pursuit

Contemplating the song of Solomon: the Amplifide bible introduced nine footnotes (check em out)  As I am reflecting I thought I would share them because it hit me in a different way this time.. Are you allowing “little foxes” to damage your vine? In the relationship with your good Shepherd are you wholly devoted ? Are you experiencing courtship with Jesus (the one whom your soul loves)? He’s been calling for you saying “draw to me, run after me” Will you listen?

When faced with the best the world has to offer is it you my Spirit craves beyond measure

When I’ve been working all day in the sun am I still beautiful,

When I venture out into the city streets or in the valley low I can feel you my good Shepherd: your presence reassures,

Will you help me as I watch over the vineyard will you shew the fox,

The foxes they taunt me, they aim to keep me from you but I have guarded my fences my heart too,

By greatest longing is for more , more of you!!

Everyday I rise I take time to meet with you good King I sing my love for you

Is my interest in you pleasing is there more I can do,

I will not withhold my voice from singing you praises, in sweet song,

I am not a tuning fork my key is not great but I’ll be sure I sing with all my lungs,

What concerns me Lord oh for what do I need your help?

The things I have kept the things for which I dwell?,

Hear me Lord when I seek your help!!

I retreat from the den where the Lions pose a threat,

Will you hold me ? I need your comforting embrace,

Keep me at your side Oh Shepherd and  may I forever dwell there in this cleft

I abide,

The north winds are rising they bring a troubling tide,

Yet still I will praise you,

The adversity only makes me more reliant on  your presence, they fit me for your companionship,

May not my earthly cares prevent me from heeding your call,

My God may you have it all,

You good Shepherd of my soul, you are altogether lovely,

The one above all most precious to me,

The love I have for you is different  to all of these…

Song of Solomon 8:6-7 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC)

Set me like a seal upon your heart, like a seal upon your arm; for love is as strong as death, jealousy is as hard and cruel as Sheol (the place of the dead). Its flashes are flashes of fire, a most vehement flame [the very flame of the Lord]!

Nothing can quench it

(Appreciating the Song of Solomon afresh: Irrevocably His, Love Him first)
