So my sister and I spoke earlier this year about what we hoped to do for 2016 , now in April something has got me thinking of what I hope to do with my life ; essentially what I want to look back and say I did when the time comes for me to say bye-bye (Ad finem vitae) . All this got me excited to set up my (for want of a better term) ‘bucket list’. I feel I must write this with a bit of preface for context though hear me out: Ecclesiastes 6:9 Amplified Bible (AMP) 9 What the eyes see [enjoying what is available] is better than [craving] what the soul desires. This too is futility and chasing after the wind. As much as I want all or as many of these things to happen in my life I want to be able to enjoy the right now also as I push ahead. I have dreams, I have soul cravings but I have purpose even if I haven’t completed as much of my list as I had hoped by this age (whatever age that is). What matters also is that I do not sit idly by , progress is being made!!!! What’s more than my list?: What God has in store for me (at any age) !!! Don’t get it twisted though he does not intend to know your plans but completely ignore them he just has a higher calling for you that your human plans can’t truly encompass and it must be done his way!!
Psalm 37:4 ESV Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
In addition to this new delight I’ve found I also know I’m taking everything (including this list) to the Lord (he is my confidant) I’m not doing this because I selfishly want my desires to be actualized (though the promise of that is reassuring) I am doing it because I just love my God and when you love someone you want to share everything with them….isn’t that true for you?
Proverbs 16:1-3 ESV The plans of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the Lord. All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the spirit. Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.
